The Mobile Mini Class vehicle is equipped with 2 iMacs, and 2 Mac minis equipped with software  for 3D design and 3D printing as well as coding and robotics. There is a an iPad used for EV3 robotics programming and 3D scanning  and an old Android tablet for NXT 2.0 programming. That's plenty of tech with potential internet access.

Making sure that children using these devices have a very strongly curated access to the internet is paramount.

The internet is amazing and amazingly distracting. I don't want anymore of the risk and distraction that the internets brings than is strictly neccesary.  If a class requires students to watch YouTube video for instructions on Arduino breadboarding for example, it would either be a video I have previously previewed and downloaded (without ads) or would only be from a channel that I previously vetted and bookmarked as not only appropriate but significantly beneficial and without ads.

The initial classes will not feature any internet connected devices. We are consulting with an IT specialists to make sure that MMC will be as safe for children as any screen time can be!   A related point, MMC is designed without seating though it can be provided if necessary. If sitting is the new smoking for adults, what is it for kids?  Any use of screen technology has to pass the "first do no harm" test and bad posture is no joke (ask me about titanium neck sometime). This is why MMC is fitted with large , high mounted screens with proper keyboards and ergonomic mice and adjustable height standing desks. iPads are poison for posture and their use is restricted solely for brief tasks that can only be done on that device, such as LIDAR scanning for example.

Children will not be able to login to anything including their own email accounts, social media etc. Such access will not be possible or allowed. One way I will keep MMC cyber safe by keeping it cyber simple.

We also have to consider correct protocols for any out-of-class communication between student and teacher. I want to offer support for students so they can progress with projects between classes, but this needs to handled inline with some safeguarding standards. It's pretty straightforward, any email or chat channel between myself and a student must always have a parent in the chat or on the email, without exceptions. I won't be offering phone support to students so no issue to solve there.
