A classroom that is consistently riotous or unruly is no classroom at all. Discipline in small classes with highly engaging materials is rarely a major issue. I have completed various types of training in constructive and positive discipline. A key point for me is to avoid belittling children. Most situations can be resolved easily when you don't underestimate children's desire to be taken seriously when they have a grievance.

I am of the camp that proposes that we should, where possible hold back and let children settle verbal disputes for themselves. I mean when else are they supposed to learn those skills? The benefit of small classrooms that you and hear and see everything, so you can step in if needed, but have a better idea of what's going on so can intervene less and let the kids be kids while they collaborate.

All children are different and I am always happy to discuss any strategies to best support your individual child.

Another purpose of having a CCTV record of all classes is for use in the unlikely event of investigating any more serious behavioral event.
